Iris van der Weijde grew up watching her grandfather work his hands translating feeling into gold, marking every family milestone with something handmade. Jewelry holds memory. It carries meaning. It becomes part of who you are. That understanding never left her.
From architecture to the workbench
Iris studied Building Technology at TU Delft, learning to think in systems, materials, and structural logic. She worked as an architect, designing spaces that would outlast their makers. But something kept pulling her back toward the smaller scale: the object, the surface, the single piece held in two hands.
She trained as a goldsmith at Vakschool Schoonhoven, the Netherlands' most respected jewelry schools. What she brought with her from architecture was not just an eye for form, it was a way of thinking. The parametric design tools she uses today, Rhino and Grasshopper, are the same ones used in architectural practice. Her jewelry is designed the way buildings are: with precision, with intention, with respect for the material.

THE PHILOSOPHY
Every collection begins with a place. The Hexagon Rocks collection emerged from volcanic geology, the exact geometry that forms when lava cools and contracts under pressure. The Coral collection traces the growth patterns of reef structures. These are not decorative references. They are the result observation:
how and why did nature flow and found balance?
That question drives everything at Studio-IRIS, from the first sketch to the final polish.

Every order comes with a personal impact report.
