OUR VISION
Beauty flourishes
when it gives back.
We believe fine jewelry can be made without taking more than it returns. That luxury and responsibility are not opposites, they are, at their best, inseparable. Studio-IRIS exists to prove that.
WHY WE EXIST
Jewelry is never just adornment
A piece of jewelry marks something. A milestone, a person, a memory. It outlasts trends, wardrobes, and often the people who wore it first. That permanence is what makes it precious — and what makes the way it is made matter so deeply.
The fine jewelry industry has long operated as if the earth is a resource without limit. Studio IRIS was founded on a different premise: that true luxury honors the earth it comes from. Not by avoiding impact entirely — that is not yet possible — but by measuring it honestly, reducing it relentlessly, and investing in restoration where extraction has already taken place.
“We should all try our best to leave the world a better place then we found it.”
— Iris van der Weijde
HOW WE WORK
Four principles. No compromises.
These are not aspirations. They are the conditions under which every piece at Studio IRIS is made.
-
We work exclusively with recycled gold, silver, and platinum. No newly mined metal enters our studio. Our casting partner sources through recycled metal suppliers. If you have old gold at home, we can melt it into something new, giving inherited material a new life.
-
We work only with natural diamonds and gemstones. Our diamonds comply with the Kimberley Process. For coloured stones, we select based on provenance and ethical sourcing and we are transparent about where our knowledge still has limits.
-
Every piece has a measurable footprint. We calculate it using the GHG Protocol, publish the methodology, and include a personal impact report with every order. You know exactly what your jewel cost the earth — and how that cost has been addressed. View our 2025 impact report.
-
Regenerative investment
1% of every sale goes directly to regenerative projects aligned with our collections. Currently: active reef restoration through Coral Gardeners in French Polynesia, and direct air carbon capture through Climeworks. We invest in the ecosystems that inspire our work, because inspiration without responsibility is just extraction with better aesthetics.
Where we are still working
Full supply chain traceability for gemstones remains a challenge across the entire jewelry industry. We are honest about this gap, and actively working to close it. We welcome questions, and we will always tell you what we know — and what we don't.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Internationally recognized.
Rooted in Rotterdam.
Studio IRIS aims to become an internationally recognized name for conscious fine jewelry, not by becoming large, but by becoming undeniable. A proof that a single studio, working with full intention, can set a new standard for what jewelry is allowed to cost the world.
That work begins here, in Rotterdam, with every piece made to order, for those who care what they leave behind.
