CHOOSE TO TREASURE

SUSTAINABILITY

Our mission is to become the first carbon-neutral goldsmith, setting a new standard in conscious craft and ecological innovation. We craft jewelry that connects deeply to the earth, to identity, and to intention. Each collection is consciously made, artistically designed, and rooted in care. Studio-IRIS exists to restore the bond between self-expression, connection and sustainability. Each piece is a quiet stand against fast-luxury, a celebration of love, presence, and purposeful design.

We keep track

We are deeply committed to minimizing our environmental impact and carbon footprint across all operations.

  • Manufacturing fine jewelry inevitably releases greenhouse gases (CO2eq), as processes from soldering to polishing all have an environmental impact. This amount varies per item.

  • To hold ourselves accountable, we meticulously quantify our emissions by following the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol, the world's most widely used international system for reporting emissions.

  • Learn precisely how Studio-IRIS jewelry measures and compensates for its carbon footprint as we actively work toward our ultimate goal: becoming the first CO2-neutral fine jewelry brand.

  • Transparency in Every Purchase: All bought pieces come with an impact report, outlining the specific environmental footprint and the compensation efforts made for your unique jewel.

Big Ideas, Real Impact.

We are proud to say that we compensated from our carbon footprint. However, climate impact is not only measured in tons of CO₂. It is felt in ecosystems under stress, which is why Studio-IRIS supports coral reef restoration.

and we’re transparent about the places where we are still growing.

Sourcing

Inspired by nature, our unwavering commitment is to ensure our craft is not a burden but a source of harmony.

We strive to be as responsible as our current knowledge allows, consciously seeking ways to improve our material supply chain's every detail. Every sourcing decision is guided by minimizing environmental and social impact. We view this process as a shared journey toward greater balance. We welcome input that aids our vision of becoming the first carbon-neutral goldsmith.

  • Our commitment to sustainability extends directly to the precious metals we use in crafting your jewelry:

    • Recycled Fine Gold:
We partner with a casting company based in the Netherlands. Their fine gold is composed of approximately 97% recycled gold (we are confirming this exact percentage to ensure absolute certainty for you). They partner with Schöne Edelmetaal. You can learn more about their processes here:

    • Your Own ‘Emotional Gold': You are welcome to supply your own fine gold. Please note that this requires a separate casting process, which results in higher costs.

    • Sustainable Alloying Materials:
For all our metal additives and alloys, our casting company collaborates with a supplier strongly focused on sustainability. You can find more information about their commitment here:

    • Casting facilities:
Within the practice of our studio and our partnered casting company, we prioritize efficiency and minimal environmental impact:

By utilizing modern induction casting machines, which significantly reduce power consumption compared to older melting techniques and require no fossil fuels. Their operations are powered, in part, by solar panels installed on our facility.

  • We choose ethical, natural diamonds and gemstones.

Inspired by nature, we only work with the world's finest natural diamonds and coloured stones. Our diamonds comply with the Kimberley Process and we choose our gemstones according to provenance.

Knowing is the first step, taking responsibility is our next.
