On Mother Earth and womanhood

On Iceland, the body, and a strength that doesn't perform

Me in the midst of it all

BACKGROUND Standing in front of the camera in Iceland, modeling myself for the new collection for the first time, shifted something in me. I was quite uncomfortable at first, aware of the lens, of myself. But somewhere in the middle of it, that fell away. I felt more and more confident, more embodied, until I was simply present. Fully in my body, proud of what I was wearing and what I created so far.

PROCESS Iceland felt, at times, less like a landscape and more like a body, just like ours. Mother Earth, not as a metaphor but as something literal, cracking open, reshaping herself, indifferent to being expectations, and somehow more powerful for it.

I believe women carry the same instinct. A strength that isn't loud, that doesn't need to prove itself in the moment, it just holds. Standing there, in front of the lens, I stopped performing that strength and just had it. It was remembering something I'd forgotten I already knew, a wild, full-hearted force of creation, the same one that shapes lava into stone, that I hadn't realized I was carrying until the ground beneath me mirrored it to me.

REVIEW / REFLECTION - You can see it in the footage. You can see it in the pieces that will be launched. Not because either was styled to look a certain way, but because everything intuitively aligned.
